Notices for the Australian Teams Playoffs
|
|
Updates relating to the Playoffs
will be posted here. |
| 17/2/2012 |
The WBF have just advised us that the system restrictions at the World Mind
Sports Games will not allow HUM or Brown Sticker Conventions. Accordingly no
Brown Sticker Conventions will be allowed in the ABF Playoffs.
|
| 12/2/2012 |
The TC has reconfirmed that playoff systems restrictions will allow entrants to
play anything allowed at any stage of the WBF target event for
that year. That means for this year (2012) Brown Sticker conventions will
be allowed. However players who want to play BS will need to comply with WBF
pre-disclosure requirements (meanings, responses, recommended defences,
whatever).

Proposed Changes to 2013 Playoffs
The ABF Management Committee has decided to bring the Open and Women's
Playoffs to select the 2013 International representative teams forward to
December 2012 to allow more time to prepare and organise overseas
representation. The proposed dates are December 8-13, 2012.
This will enable the Seniors Playoff to move forward to February or March
2013.
To fit the earlier dates, the PQP cycle for 2012 will end with the Spring
Festival in October-November 2012. The Grand National Open Teams in
November-December 2012 will be the start of the 2013 PQP cycle.
|
| 5/11/2011 |
For the 2012 Seniors Playoffs, the Management Committee has decided that
players who were too young to enter some or all 2011 ABF events offering
Seniors PQPs, but are old enough to enter the 2012 Seniors Playoffs, will be
entitled to transfer their Open PQPs to Seniors PQPs provided they have 24 or
more Open PQPs. This provision will not apply for subsequent years' Playoffs,
since players aged 59+ are able to enter all the previous year's Senior
qualifying events.
|
| 17/3/2011 |
The WBF allows players who turn 60 in the same year to play in Seniors' events.
To represent Australia as a senior you must accumulate sufficient PQP in the
previous year (including 15 PQP in Seniors' events) to qualify for the
playoffs. In order for this to be achieved, the eligible age to play in
Seniors' events will be lowered to 59. Thus if you turn 59 in 2011 you are now
eligible to play as a senior.
