Funding for research - your input please!

New South Wales' Central Coast Bridge Club has initiated a project to develop a booklet containing interesting bridge hands and fabulous recipes (an interesting mix).

If you have encountered any interesting bridge hands you would like to share, or can provide a recipe for some delectable culinary delight, please contact the club's Chief Director, John Redfearn, at:

Email:  ccbc@westnet.com.au

Snail Mail:  Central Coast Bridge Club, PO Box 6083, Long Jetty, NSW 2261

Telephone:  (02) 4334 1294

The intention is to sell this booklet to interested members of ABF affiliates around Australia.  All profits from this initiative will go to Neurological Research at the Prince Charles Hospital.

Publication of the booklet will hopefully be in time for next year's Bridge for Brains challenge.

Please get on board and help raise funds for this important cause.

Reminder - timing of beginner classes

The ABF has placed an A4 advertisement in the rotary Down Under magazine - February 2015 issue.  This is expected to be received by approximately 36,000 Australian Rotarians during the first week of February.

Therefore, when scheduling your Club's beginner classes for 2015 you may wish to allow time for any interested readers of this magazine to contact you.

Recent promotional activity

On 12 December the Moreton Bribie Bridge Club (Queensland) had an article published in the Bribie Island News sports section about their members' involvement in a Queensland Wide Pairs event.

I wonder if bridge is the only sport you can play in high heels?

Teachers' network meeting - Summer Festival of Bridge

All bridge teachers are invited to attend a networking meeting at the Summer Festival of Bridge between 6.00 - 7.00 pm on Saturday 17 January.

Please advise the ABF National Teaching Coordinator, Joan Butts, if you are able to attend (for catering purposes) as soon as possible. Joan can be contacted at teaching@abf.com.au .

This network meeting will also provide an opportunity to celebrate our first 'crop' of ABF Accredited teachers!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

I would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a very happy New Year.

Take care during the holiday season.
