Questionnaire on Selection
of Australian Teams
The Australian
Bridge Federation has chosen a pairs selection event for selecting the
National teams in 2004. This is likely to be a Butler type event. 2002
saw the use of a Butler to select the national teams, with scoring in
imps against all the pairs in the field, with a cut-off. The top three
finishing pairs were selected as the National team.
The format
used in 2002 did come under some criticism. The Player Liaison Committee
is endeavouring to present a view, representing the players, to the Tournament
Committee for consideration for the 2004 event.
Some suggestions
for improving the format have been suggested to the PLC. We present them
here. They do not represent the views of the PLC, rather we present it
as a basis for your comment and modification. The PLC has added some questions
we would like you to consider. We would welcome further comment.
