ABF's support for teachers now extends to Teacher Accreditation, available to you after a TTP. To achieve Star Teacher status, you need to accrue 50 points from a variety of successful teaching activities. Read about it on the ABF website. http://www.abf.com.au/education/abf-accreditation-program/.
it's entirely up to you, but if you're interested, send us (to alanamowb@hotmail.com), data and student feedback on any courses you've taught recently, and/or any other teaching initiatives you feel are noteworthy. Use the ABF club feedback form on the website http://www.abf.com.au/education/abf-accreditation-program/ or use your own.
Another way to gain points (10) is to attend a Professional Development Day for Teachers. Free for teachers, the first will be held at the Peninsula Bridge Club, 4 Jackson St, Warriewood, Sydney on Sunday 21 September 2014.
If you're interested in making a weekend of it, I will be giving a workshop on Doubles at the Peninsula Bridge Club on Saturday 20th, and then you're invited to join the game in the afternoon, followed by dinner. The Saturday will not be sponsored by the ABF, but the Sunday will.
Sunday 21 will consist of: 3 x 2 hourly segments (8.30 - 10.30, 11.00 - 1.00, 2.00 - 4.00) on modern content for teaching intermediate and advaced courses.
(1) Bidding, (2) Play and (3) Defence will be covered. Pro Devl days concentrate on "What to" (teach), TTP's concentrate on "How to teach". Contact Cath Whiddon (or me) for details and to enrol (cwhiddon@live.com). A flyer will be available soon.
To complement these days, I will be doing some podcasts, avaiable on the ABF website. These will be for teachers unable to attend in person, and to reinforce what was covered. Your review of this will carry points towards accreditation too.
Later in 2014, I plan to offer a Pro Development Day in Victoria, and Queensland. If your club would be interested in hosting one of these, please contact me (joan@joanbuttsbridge.com)
