http://www.unibridge.org/

The 2010 edition will be a knock out competition played on BBO. A country can enter an unlimited number of teams composed of between 4 and 6 players and a captain must be indicated. The entry requirements are:

  • being at a university or high school (or 1 year after or before studies)
  • being between 17 and 28 years old
  • having the nationality from the country you represent

There is no formal ratification requirement so interested Australian youth players are free to form themselves into teams and enter directly via the website.

ANC YOUTH COACHING

While the Interstate Youth Teams Grand Final is on, Peter Gill will be providing free coaching sessions (play hands then discuss them) for any youth players not in the Final, or sitting out during the Final. Attendance is optional. Coaching sessions will be simultaneous with the Grand Final, i.e. 10am and 1-30pm on Friday 23 July (the Victory Dinner is on that evening), and possibly also on Thursday evening 22 July if the youth qualifying is over by then.

AUSTRALIA WINS PACIFIC ASIA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Congratulations to Australia's U26 team who successfully defended the PABF Under 26 Teams Championship in New Zealand in May, and to our U21 team who came 2nd in their age group. > photo

AGE LIMITS

Age limits for world youth bridge change on 1/1/2011.

  • The World U26 Teams in 2012 will be for those born in 1987 or later.
  • The World U21 Teams in 2012 will be for those born in 1992 or later.

This is a one year difference from previous rules. We expect (but don't know) that the PABF Championships age limits will probably copy the WBF change.

Did you know?

Players who are 26 or under at the end of the year can join the ABF Youth Club for free. Details on the ABF Youth club section. They also get a 50% discount on entry fees in all ABF and ABF licensed events.
