Blue Mountains Bridge Club

About ten years ago my husband and I decided to take lessons at the club close to where we lived – The Great Lakes Bridge Club. We enjoyed the lessons and began to play at the club – first at the weekly supervised session and then graduating to a regular bridge day. Unfortunately being in a 7-day-a-week business meant that we were – at the best – intermittent players. We were grateful to Great Lakes for putting up with our very sporadic attendance.

We retired four years ago and moved to Leura in the Blue Mountains. An incentive to our choice of towns was the presence of an active bridge club. Since our move, we have become regular players. My husband became a Director and I was – for a time – the treasurer of the club.

After attending two teacher training sessions by Joan Butts and Cath Whiddon I was ‘hooked’ on the idea of teaching and decided to try to obtain accreditation. I felt it might assist in enticing more beginners to lessons and club membership. I also enjoyed the challenge of learning and setting myself a goal. What could be more challenging than this infuriating, addictive, and wonderful game of bridge!

I am a New Zealander where my background was in accounting (taxation and commercial law) and management consulting (financial and personnel). I love doing jigsaws on-line.
