How did you get started in Bridge? At what age? Who do you learn from?
One night, my grandmother wanted my dad to teach her bridge; Diya and I got involved because it’s easier to learn with 3 or 4 than just 1. I was 7 at the time and my dad kept teaching us even after that night.
What do (did) you do professionally?
I am currently a student studying PhB (Science) at the ANU, focusing on Maths and Chemistry.
Who is your partner and for how long? Longest Partnership?
Diya is my current partner, we’ve played together for 11 years and it’s my longest partnership (along with my dad)
In your playing career, what is the bridge success that has the most meaning for you?
Doing so much better in this year’s Youth Week compared to previous years.
And your worst moment in bridge?
Almost went down in a cold slam because I was trying to deal with a 4-1 trump break (I was only missing 4 trumps).
What do you do between sessions to put you in the best frame of mind for the following sessions?
I refill my water bottle and go for a quick walk outside if time permits (or at least step into the sun).
Do you have a favourite and least favourite convention?
My favourite convention is two-way checkback. Least favourite would probably be Flannery.
Would you prefer to have more system or less?
Less
What do you to do to improve your game?
Plenty of Cuebids practice with Diya, trying to play regularly and doing declarer practice on BBO.
Favourite bridge book
Card Play Technique by Victor Mollo and Nico Gardener
What interests or hobbies do you have besides bridge?
I play chess and piano. I also enjoy riding my bike and walking round the lake.
What is the number one thing that bridge has done for you as a person and for your life?
Bridge has taught me a lot about controlling what I can control and accepting what I can’t.
