The Bridge for Brain Research Challenge will be held in the first week of May. All clubs are invited to host a bridge session and donate the proceeds to Alzheimer’s research at Neuroscience Research Australia. Seamus Browne, one of the greats of bridge in Australia and NZ, died over Easter, in Christchurch. It seems he was admitted to hospital with a brain haemorrhage and passed away within a few hours as nothing could be done for him. It is with the deepest regret that I report the unexpected and sudden passing of Eilis Magner. Professor Magner had been General Counsel of the ABF for over 16 years and a wonderful friend for even longer. Saturday 8 June Winning teams are generally happier than losing ones, so the open, women’s and seniors’ teams were all pleased to have won two matches today and to be climbing up the rankings. As I write the official website misleads about the position of the women’s team as they have yet to be given the 12 VP for their fifth-round bye.
