Vale Seamus Browne

Seamus Browne, one of the greats of bridge in Australia and NZ, died over Easter, in Christchurch. It seems he was admitted to hospital with a brain haemorrhage and passed away within a few hours as nothing could be done for him. Seamus was one of many top players from Christchurch who moved to Sydney. He was the prototype pro bridge player, hired by Frank Theeman to be his partner. Saturday 8 June Winning teams are generally happier than losing ones, so the open, women’s and seniors’ teams were all pleased to have won two matches today and to be climbing up the rankings.  As I write the official website misleads about the position of the women’s team as they have yet to be given the 12 VP for their fifth-round bye.
