In your playing career, what is the bridge success that has the most meaning for you?
The biggest success was probably Canberra this year, I didn’t expect to make the finals or make any team. I was really happy that we did very well.
And your worst moment in bridge?
Definitely ANZAC day congress this year. I was playing a board with Anthony, he opened 2NT (20-21) I had 16hcp, bid puppet Stayman, he responded 3H, I bid 4NT. Which we hadn’t discussed yet, he thought it was QUANT, I thought it was Roman. Anyways he ended up thinking for a while then passing. When the lead was played, he said “Oh no I am getting executed aren’t I.” It was a terrible board AND it was a teams match.
What do you do between sessions to put you in the best frame of mind for the following sessions?
I swim a lot and it’s kinda my therapy.
Do you have a favourite and least favourite convention?
Favourite convention is Bergen Raise, but Alex and I call it Booogan Raise. Least favourite definitely Lebensohl, ended up in 6NT for some reason once. Went down too many.

What is the number one thing that bridge has done for you as a person and for your life?
