Message from the President of the World Bridge Federation, Mr Gianarrigo Rona

On behalf of the WBF and personally I am very pleased to welcome all the participants at the 1st Autumn Online Women’s Bridge Festival, a great initiative of the Women’s Committee born by an idea of its dynamic Chairman Anna Maria Torlontano.

The annual Spring Festival is now a classic of the WBF Calendar and shows the development and the importance of the Women’s bridge inside the whole movement of our marvelous discipline. I am sure this new Autumn Festival will take its place alongside the original competition. And I am very pleased to offer the overall winner, together with
a partner of her choice, the entry fee to the Women’s Pairs Championship in Sanya, China, together with accommodation in a twin room for the duration of the Women’s Pairs event (from the night before the start and including the night at the end of the Final). The exact dates and duration of the stay will be confirmed as soon as the programme has been finalized.

I am confident that also this edition of the Festival will be participated by players from everywhere in the world and will achieve a great success, gratifying not only the participants, who have the occasion to find again old friends and to meet the new ones, but also the organizers who worked and are working with enthusiasm, passion and dedication.

The WBF is proud to promote this event, which truly confirms that bridge is hobby, sport and culture and unifies the bridge players all over the world, and I am sure that the Zones and the NBOs will help Anna Maria and her colleagues of the Committee in releasing at the best the initiative to their own members, giving them the chance not to lose a great opportunity.

Un abbraccio
Gianarrigo Rona
WBF President
